On Friday, January 27, Clackamas Workforce Partnership, with partners of WorkSource Clackamas, hosted a Legislative Forum. The event was well attended by local and state leadership. Board of County Commissioners Chair Jim Bernard kicked off the event. As a private business owner, he recognizes the importance of a work-ready and dependable workforce. Bridget Dazey, CWP executive director, presented an overview of the workforce development system in the State of Oregon and Clackamas County. Afterwards, the discussion addressed everything from the challenges for our most vulnerable faced with the last month snow and ice to apprenticeship programs and career-readiness. The opportunities to collaborate and leverage resources are abundant and we need an ‘all hands on deck’ approach to tackle our communities biggest challenges – poverty and economic development.
